- Following the record-breaking launch of NBA 2K16, the NBA 2K franchise continues to stake its claim as the most authentic sports video game with NBA 2K17. As the franchise that 'all sports video games should aspire to be' (GamesRadar), NBA 2K17 will take the game to new heights and continue to blur the lines between video game and reality.
Something doesn't add up.
NBA 2K17 is a superb sports game with some staggering visuals. NBA 2K17 PC Game 2016 Overview NBA 2K17 has been developed by Visual Concepts and is published under the banner of 2K.
Many of the complaints can be dismissed as overpowered rhetoric from immature consumers who want their voices heard, even when they have nothing to say. Some people just like to complain and aren't happy unless they have something to be unhappy about.
We know that element exists. There's a similar contingent among every game's community. However, there is also a group of sensible and thoughtful fans who have sincere and specific issues with the product. Where do their concerns lie?
Quite often the root of the issue is the malfunction of one of the developer's big ideas and concepts.
The offline modes in NBA 2K17 are amazing. MyGM and MyLeague are almost flawless. They sit atop the list of best franchise modes in all of sports video games. However, in this day and age, sports gaming goes far beyond the offline modes.
In many ways, 2K revolutionized online team-up modes with Crew back in 2010 and revisited the concept when rebranded as MyPark and 2K Pro-Am. Conceptually those modes are outstanding, but intermittent connectivity issues have given critics some valid ammunition.
There's also been noted issues with corrupted save files. I've experienced this firsthand.

One of the series' best innovations over the past three years was its face-scanning technology, only the results have been all over the board for different users.
MyCareer is the most-played mode, according to multiple 2K reps I've spoken with, but it hasn't been without its issues.
There have also been extended load times and freezing on the title screen. Some of these issues have fixes introduced by 2K or found by users themselves, but the problems have clouded what is otherwise a stellar achievement in sports video game development.
While I've just listed a good number of issues that have plagued the game, I've also given a brief look into the amazing depth the 2K experience offers.
Between MyCareer, MyGM, MyLeague, MyTeam, MyPark, 2K Pro-Am and Play Now Online, there are seven different modes in NBA 2K17 that offer so much depth, a user could play each of them exclusively for months if he or she was so inclined.
While 2K offers unprecedented depth to its fanbase, could the number of options be the reason for the issues? Is 2K a jack of all trades and a master of none? To answer my own questions, I'd say yes to the first, but no to the second.
NBA 2K has mastered the franchise mode concept. There are a few small areas of opportunity, but for the most part, there are no major complaints or mode-breaking issues. The answer to the first question is a little trickier.
MyCareer is the hub for the current game. This was done to make each gamer's created player the nucleus. In theory, this is an awesome idea that shows 2K cares about its fans' experience. However, this model has led to a potentially imprisoning dynamic where one mode's issues can't help but affect the experience of another.
There have been times when it has been difficult to access an offline feature because of connectivity issues. Yet a consumer in the offline modes is made to feel some measure of the pain that MyTeam, MyPark and Pro-Am gamers are feeling.
2K admirably wants to offer a game for every kind of virtual hoops fan, but their efforts aren't being appreciated because the depth of the game is being lost in the issues.
It doesn't help that the game is so successful. By nature, people look to tear down things and people who have ascended to lofty heights. They get behind the underdog and root for it to overthrow the king.
At one point, 2K was the underdog. It was the in-thing to like 2K better than NBA Live. Were the early versions of 2K better than what has been produced in the past five years? Not by a longshot, but the expectations have been raised to unreachable heights as the game's popularity has grown.
So what can 2K do to combat this issue?
Continue to innovate and look to correct the problems that arise. That's the obvious approach for a developer/publisher with a successful, but imperfect product.
That said, the numbers don't lie. NBA 2K games are consistently among the best-reviewed on the market. The sales are phenomenal and the social media engagement leads to an innumerable amount of free advertisement. Popular YouTubers like Chris Smoove and CashNastyGaming deliver a good percentage of NBA 2K content on their channels.
The level of consumption is extraordinary. Games are not what they used to be and that's a good and bad thing.

On the negative side, it cost more to maximize the enjoyment in a game. In many ways, being more competitive or simply getting all of the content intended for the game requires a consumer spend more than the initial investment.
Nba 2k17 Game Debate
On the positive side, sports games look much better than they ever have. There's more depth and there's a consistent stream of content that keeps fans coming back until the next version is released. Many of the complaints about 2K can be attributed to the state of the gaming industry today. Games are ever evolving – even post release.
NBA 2K17 is a perfect example.
In any case, there is no question fans seem to love 2K as much as they love to complain about it.
